Instant chatting on Instagram is now possible with Instagram Direct, a feature of the popular photo-sharing program for mobile devices. One or more users in a certain group can see, edit, or exchange the following with other users:

The only way to communicate privately on Instagram was through Instagram Direct, which started in December of 2013 after the platform had been operating since 2010.
